Sophie with Miffy-- * 29 weeks * eats butternut squash, sweet potato, green beans and courgette * loves pear and mango * says mamama, dada all day * a busy little body * hates having her nose wiped
Now sit here and co-operate while Mom learns how to use this amazing camera of hers. Not quite the peaceful Sunday morning experience I was hoping for...
Bryn and the girls are all sick this weekend. It's cold and raining. Updating the girls' baby journals is a perfect reminder that life is beautiful even if it's a little glum at times.
Sophie with Miffy-- *28 weeks *loves veggie lunch time *cut her first tooth on Saturday, 17 Oct *crawled on all fours on Thursday, 15 Oct *gave up on mom's early morning milk supply on Friday, 16 Oct *pulled self up to standing position on Tuesday, 20 Oct
Our local supermarket, Albert Heijn has been dishing out pieces to an old vintage puzzle each time we spend Eur 10 or more. Bryn and the girls have enjoyed putting it together for the last few weeks. We hit a dead end, not being able to find the last 4, as each pack of 4 is sealed. And, quite frustratingly, kept receiving the packs we already had. Bryn got so desperate :), he even called up a few of our friends who weren't interested in building the puzzle, to ask if they could save their packs for us. Valerie saved the day and helped us finish the picture. Hooray. Now what do we do with it?
Madison brought home a mommy/daughter assignment from school. To choose a favourite recipe and submit it, along with photos for a class cookbook. We chose yummy chocolate chip cookies.
Back to school today to help out in Madison's class with a taste test. Sweet, salty, bitter and sour. Sugar, salt, chicory and lemon were the flavours of the day.
My friend, Kristy and I made 'ants on a log' (peanut butter/cheese spread on celery and topped with raisins) with Madison's class today. We've been teaching the children numbers in English and reinforced that through counting raisins. This also tied in well with the 'kinderboekenweek' (childrens' book week) theme: 'Aan tafel: Snoepen en Eten' (At the table: Treats and Food).
Savannah played keeper on Saturday. Bryn spent the morning supporting her and her team, while I got to enjoy a lazy start to the day with the two youngest.
A quick and easy takeaway meal comes in handy when extra curricular activities run late into the the afternoon/early evening. Bagel Alley's Italian bagel is my favourite, with chicken pesto and avocado coming in a very close second.
The stomach bug stopped by for a visit this week. Madison carried this little bucket around with her all day and for the next couple of days, actually.
I've neglected this blog for 3 weeks, not due to a lack of interest on my part, but purely because life has been hectically busy. Anyway, just to let you know, the rose is still alive and well, sitting in a vase next to my kitchen sink--3 weeks later!
I have a love/hate relationship with my kitchen floor. Well, actually, more leaning toward the hate side. It's a white tiled floor and no, I didn't choose it. Not the most intelligent colour for a kitchen, in my opinion. At least it gets cleaned constantly!
We're an active family of 5, aclimitizing to life back in beautiful South Africa. We live in Cape Town now, after having spent 10 years in the land of windmills, cheese, flowers and cows aka The Netherlands. We enjoy entertaining friends, exercise, sunshine, jiving to music in the kitchen and heading to the beach for walks and ice-creams. We love life and embrace each new day we're blessed with. We're happy. And I write all about it. Welcome!
