* Her daddy absolutely adores her
* LOVES the bottle (supplementing with formula)
* Bed time is 9:30pm now. Wakes anytime between 5:30 and 6:45am
* Enjoys staring at mobiles suspended from her playmat
* She's SUCH a good baba

Our lights tripped during a crazy storm in the middle of the night. Each time an electricity group goes off, it's easy to fix the problem with a new fuse. This time, a fuse didn't work. I spent about an hour on the phone trying to solve our problem, worrying it was something big, when all it was, was a tripped switch. Whew. Boy, did I feel silly.

Little Miss Accident tried to climb on my lap last night and missed. Oops.

I spent 45 minutes straightening Savannah's hair. She was chuffed and wishes she had straight hair. Why is it that we always wish for something we don't have? She's loved brushing her hair. That's one thing you can't do when you have curls!

22 May 2009

A family visit to the gym on Friday morning. Bryn and I enjoyed a body pump class together.

21 May 2009

Thursday morning snugs. We're enjoying a long weekend (Ascension weekend).

20 May 2009

An emotional day. Expressing milk wasn't working. I began expressing at 5pm (aka crazy time). I guess yielding only 40ml after a very busy day was inevitable. By 9pm, I was beside myself. I didn't have enough nourishment for my baby. Bryn went out to buy formula and Fiona came over to console the the frustrated mother. Sophie took to the bottle and downed 90ml in 4 minutes. Clearly, she was starving.

Witness a contented baby Sophie for the first time in 7 weeks. It didn't take long before she drifted off for the night.

Sophie with Miffy--

* 7 weeks old
* 4110g
* feeding is an issue at the moment, as Sophie has not gained enough weight. 300g gain since birth is not satisfactory for a 7 week old. Our paed has advised I express milk (90ml x 7)to figure out whether she has difficulty drinking 90ml per feed or if it's my low milk production
* Strangely enough, Sophie is sleeping through the night

18 May 2009

Family Home Evening was held in Savannah and Madison's 'tent'. Daddy taught us a lesson on church history.

17 May 2009

Being a mom is hard work. But finding little love notes around the house makes a tiring day worth all the effort.

16 May 2009

Pass the parcel, sweeties and friends = a fun weekend.

15 May 2009

This is what my day looked like. Running around like a headless chicken seems to be a Friday thing. Gym, fetch Madison at lunch time, grocery shopping, fetch Savannah at 3, swimming lessons, cook dinner, unpack groceries, bath and bedtime and stories for older girls, bath time for Sophie (and lots of meal prep, baby feeding, house tidying and sorting out in between). Come 10:30pm when Sophie is down for the night, I brush my teeth, hit the pillow and fall asleep within about 2.3 seconds.

14 May 2009

Getting ahead of myself is a rarity these days. Waking up to an empty dishwasher makes my little heart sing. One less chore to do in the morning.

13 May 2009

At the end of a long day, I treat myself to a delicious cup of hot chocolate.

Sophie with Miffy--

* 6 weeks
* We enjoy our little Sophster so much
* She enjoys being out and about in the pram and in her car seat
* She is such a good little girl at the care facility at the gym. Sonja and Didi are wonderful with her and look forward to her visits
* To reward her mommy, she slept for 8 hours straight last night :)
* She weighs 4040g--not enough, according to the doctor, as she's only 230g heavier than her birth weight {not taking into account the little bit she lost after birth}. She wants to make sure that Sophie gains at least 150g this week.
* Baby acne is starting to improve
* Just love her baby smell and could cuddle all day long

11 May 2009

My angel girl.

10 May 2009

A priceless Mother's Day gift. Bryn and the girls want to help me save up for a really good camera. They went out and bought some Pringles chips, ate them of course, and made this cute little money box {that has been sealed shut with tons of tape--no borrowing!}. To get me started, they deposited some lolly into my cute box and designed a little space for me to keep track of how much money I have saved.

Madison is a star nappy changer

8 May 2009

Our old neighbours came for tea and to meet little Sophie on Friday afternoon. We miss them.

7 May 2009

The organiser bug bit me today. I filed and made back up copies of all our important documents. It feels great to have ticked it off that ever growing to-do list.

6 May 2009

A picture of a picture. This is Sophie's cute passport photo. The guy taking the picture was very patient and must have taken about 50 photos to get the perfect shot. I love the little bubbles she's blowing!

5 May 2009

Sophie with Miffy--

* 5 weeks
* Sophie has a case of baby acne
* She slept for 7 hours one night and 8 hours the next (when I was so sick with Mastitis) and then went back to sleeping 5 - 6 hours. What a star
* Sophie loves her post bathtime massages
* Awake time after feeds is one of the big girls' favourite times of the day. She smiles from ear to ear without much convincing and tries to 'talk' to us
* Sophie enjoys the freedom of kicking without a nappy on during happy time

This stunning clematis creeper growing outside my kitchen window, bursts into flower every May.

Holland is a joyful place in the Spring.

Mastitis :-(

30 April 2009

Queens Day Celebration. Anyone in Holland is permitted to sell anything, anywhere, for the day. Holland becomes a mass fleamarket with bargains galore.

My sweet girls decided to earn some money by helping to bake and sell cookies. We made chocolate chip cookies and crunchies and managed to sell the lot. They earned about Eur 13 each and were so pleased with themselves. Their cookie stall is the little one on the right. We shared a spot with our friends the Gambro's.

Don't you just love the fashion sense? Savannah, with the collar straight up (it's in fashion), and Madison with the scarf (it's in fashion too...well, sort of).
