Sophie with Miffy--

* 33 weeks
* enjoyed her first baby biscuit this week

16 November 2009

These odd shoes will live at our front door (as we don't have a fireplace) for 3 weeks, in the hopes that Sinterklaas and Zwartepiet will fill them with treats each night.

All I can say is THANK HEAVENS FOR ANWB and FIONA. It was pouring with rain as I was getting the girls strapped into their seats after Savannah's hockey game. Boy, was I glad to be getting home. One little problem--the car was dead. The battery was fine. Cars are all computerized these days. Mr ANWB couldn't get the car to start (which sadly happens to be a computerized card key). Wasting many hours sitting outside the hockey fields in Wassenaar, waiting for a mechanic (who couldn't help us) and then for Bryn to bring the spare 'key' (which didn't work), and then for the tow truck (to get the car to the Renault dealership and us to a rental car--only to figure out Bryn didn't have a driver's license with him--and I wasn't with him--and he was far away--and we only have 1 car), meant that our precious Saturday was basically a write-off.

Welcome to Holland, Sinterklaas! He left the girls a chocolate initial in their shoes tonight. Guess who ate Sophie's?

Wishing Gem would hurry up and get online so we could skype...

I have wanted to make banana bread for so long, but somehow, we never seem to be able to let the bananas get to this stage. Now that I'm sugar detoxing, bananas are a no-no, so maybe that's why we have so many ready to be transformed into delicious banana bread.

A new place allocated to all things Bryn.

Sophie with Miffy--

* 32 weeks

9 November 2009

Oops, this is how fast she is. And she even happened to be in the same room as me. And she still managed to decorate her face in the short amount of time it took me to get my make-up on. Just trying to be like mommy!

SLC Temple Cake complete.

7 November 2009

I've lost count as to how many of these I've changed in my lifetime. Being the eldest of 6 girls probably adds a good chunk onto the total amount. After a while, even the beautifully scented, (or unscented wetwipes for that matter), have begun to smell like poo.

Cake order designed on paper first!

4 November 2009

Savannah came home a couple of weeks ago with a book review assignment. My heart always skips a beat when I get handed one of these pieces of paper. I feel like I'm back in Grade 3 with my limited Dutch. We got started really early and spent this week practicing and perfecting the presentation. She planned to teach her class what she'd learnt from the book--how to tell if money is real.

Sophie with Miffy--

* 31 weeks
* talks non-stop (dada, dud, da, mama, ma)
* likes to be held. Crawls up to me and hangs on my pants and looks at me with a desperate little face. Can't resist it.

My friends, Allison and Amy and I started a sugar detox today. Increased protein, decreased carbohydrates = less sugar = less fat = less weight and fat percentage. It's tough, but much easier to achieve in a group.

It's at times like these, that I'm reminded that blogging is so worth all the effort. Memories are saved and reproduced at the click of a mouse. The girls love to look back and remember.

31 October 2009

Hannah Montana, Miley Cyrus and Pumpkin baby hit the streets for Halloween.

A great bib passed down from older sisters, Savannah and Madison.

29 October 2009

Our South African friends, Fiona and Walter, were sworn in as Dutch citizens today. A memorable and well deserved event. Congratulations!

* stops vegetables she's not too fond of entering her mouth with her tongue (green beans and courgette)
* 7.25kg

26 October 2009

Also, a little outfit Madison wore at this age. Just love the nappy bum.

25 October 2009

A favourite girly activity on a laid back Sunday morning.

24 October 2009

Madison reading one of her favourite stories of late, all snuggled up on the couch.

23 October 2009

Savannah has had this little spotty dog since Madison's birth. Natalie and Tanner Reese gave it to her. It's one of her prized treasures, even now, 5 and a half years later.

10 points for initiative. Bryn and I both want to instill this quality in our children.

21 October 2009

My friend, Leonie did a professional photo shoot for us when Savannah was 6 months old. She wore this very same outfit. (Pretty good going, 3 girls later and still going strong for a 4th??!!) I tried to recreate the photo shoot, but, I have a wiggle pot on my hands. Will have to try again when she's just been fed.
