19 December 2009

Christmas gift to our parents. I used my grandmother's recipe, baked them in Holland and wrapped them up well to take to SA to ice and deliver. I'm happy with how they turned out. The glazed look is the way to go in humid Durban. I had forgotten how the icing sweats in December!

18 December 2009

Airport buy. Great buy.

17 December 2009

Speed Queen. I want one! Laundry from start to finish in Holland: +- 4 hours. Laundry from start to finish in South Africa: +- 1 hour.

Sophie with Miffy--

* 35 weeks

This photo was taken in South Africa. We hadn't technically left for SA yet, but...things were hectic. At least this shot was captured in the same week. Oh, also, I had to call on some cute and willing "Miffy's" to play the all important role.

Liz, our fantastic American hairdresser comes to our home. She charges Eur20 for a ladies' cut and Eur 15 for children. Perfect.

29 November 2009

Driving in Paris is unbelievably tricky. Bryn did a fantastic job. The photo above shows a traffic circle (on our navigation system) at the Arc de Triomphe with way too many exits. The circle should consist of about 4 lanes, but honestly, the French drivers just go, creating about 15 lanes, with traffic facing all sorts of crazy directions. It was fun!

28 November 2009

Lunch stop before we arrived at our destination in Paris. Jambon Beurre. mmmmmmm. yum. yum. Our family favourite. We've tried to replicate this simple, delicious lunch meal, but somehow, the only place you can get this delectable french bread is France.

27 November 2009

I live in my maxi cosi most days. That's my lot in life as the third child.

26 November 2009

Orthodontic appointment. The waiting room is fabulous, but this is all I managed to capture before my name was called. It'll have to do.

25 November 2009

Can you tell that I'm busy? Photo a day will be wherever the camera is this week.

Packing for a quick weekend trip to Paris and a week later, our Christmas break to South Africa. My days are full. Madison comes home from school with this little project for me. Ko. She (aka the mom) keeps a diary and takes photos etc. Perfect timing...

20 November 2009

Finally, a little sunshine patch in my garden. Looking forward to a good dose in South Africa next month.

19 November 2009

Residency permit collection on one of the windiest days in Holland. Of course, all the children had to be present. Savannah was helping me carry Sophie's baby bag from the car to the permit building, when all of a sudden, a huge gush of wind came and blew me AND Sophie (in her pram--which fell over) into the street. I've never experienced such force. Luckily no harm was done, but we were all a little shaken!
